Migrate from SourceBans++

The SourceBans++ importer transfers your full ban history, player records, mutes, and admin audit log into RookHelm. You run the import from your community dashboard — your existing SourceBans++ instance keeps running until you decide to switch over.

  • A SourceBans++ export bundle, produced by the export script and packaged as a .zip.
  • Owner access to the community you are importing into.
  1. Export from SourceBans++. Run the export script against your SourceBans++ instance to produce the export bundle.
  2. Start the import. In your community dashboard, open Settings → Import and choose Start import. RookHelm returns a one-time upload link that stays valid for 24 hours.
  3. Upload the bundle. Upload your .zip through the dashboard. RookHelm checks the bundle and reads its manifest. When the bundle is valid, the import moves to the ready state and shows you what it found.
  4. Review and confirm. Pick which records to bring over — bans are always included. Choosing mutes, audit entries, or ban comments also brings over the admins that created them, so those records keep their author. You can also choose whether to include demo files attached to bans. Then choose Confirm import to begin.
  5. Monitor progress. The import page shows live status as records are brought over. Leave the page or come back later — the import keeps running on its own.
  6. Confirm the result. When the import finishes, the page shows a per-record summary: how many records were imported, how many were skipped as duplicates, how many were skipped because a referenced admin or server was missing, and how many demo files were extracted. If the import fails, the page names what went wrong and the next action.

Imported admins are created as unclaimed accounts. When the matching admin signs in to RookHelm with the same Steam account, their imported records are linked to them automatically. Importing the same bundle again skips records that already exist, so a re-run is safe.

If you hit an error you cannot resolve, email support@rookhelm.com with the failure message shown on the import page.
